MOSES LAKE - Ring in 2011 by participating in the annual Polar Bear Plunge on Saturday.
The event is taking place at the Cascade Park Boat Launch, located on West Valley Road, at noon, said Moses Lake Fire Department Capt. Dave Holle.
The event is expected to last about 15 minutes.
In past years, around 30 to 40 people participated in the event, he said.
Moses Lake firefighters will be on hand to make sure participants are safe.
The Polar Bear Plunge benefits the Grant County Animal Shelter.
Event organizers are asking people to bring cat or dog food donations.
"Knowing that we are raising some needed essential items, for homeless pets in the area, is what makes me keep helping out this event," said Holle, who has been main event organizer for the past eight years.
He said the event raised a couple of hundred dollars in donations in past years.
