It seems that history might be writing itself down in Arlee.

After finishing second in 2009 and winning a state championship in the 140-pound weight class in 2010, senior Cole Rice could become the winningest wrestler in the school's history.

"He's wrestled for so long, he's extremely smart, extremely strong and as fast as a snapped towel," Arlee wrestling coach Ken Hill said before this years season.

Rice not only won the state championship in 2010 by pinning Townsend's Shae Christianson, but he didn't allow a single point to be scored on him during the tournament.

In other words, he was dominant.

Rice was also a vital part for Arlee's run to the playoffs this year in football, and in 2009 when the Warriors made the postseason for the first time since 2001. In his last home game as an Arlee football player, Rice led the team in rushing with 130 yards on 14 attempts and two touchdowns.

So far this winter, Rice has been impressive on the wrestling mat, ranked second at 145 pounds in the most recent coaches poll, Rice also took third at the 40-team CMR Holiday Class two weekends ago.

Rice pinned three en route to a championship in the 152-pound classification at the Cascade Badgers Invitational earlier this month.

"Cole had a really good weekend, pinning all of his opponents on the way to the championship," Hill said after the tournament. "He just does everything right, and when he makes a mistake, he is smart enough to know when to bail out and start over."

With plenty of wrestling to go for Rice this season, there's probably still plenty of dominant performances left in him.
