ST. IGNATIUS — Turnovers and low shooting percentages led to two losses for the Mission girls’ basketball team last week.
Against Bigfork, the Lady Bulldogs were down by eight at the half after an 11-point second quarter. Mission had a stretch of time where no points were scored in the second and third quarters in the 45-26 loss.
Senior Katie McDonald led with 10 points and junior Kyla Mitchell added six.
Hosting Eureka, the Bulldogs turned the ball over easily, leading to easy points for Eureka. v
“If you make a mistake [against Eureka], it’s two points for them,” head coach Les Rice said.
The Bulldogs put up two shots in the first, but didn’t improve in the second en route to a 37-25 loss.
“Not a lot of shots were put up,” Rice said. “The first quarter didn’t hurt us, we played a poor second quarter.”
Junior Adessa Durglo led with 10 points for the Bulldogs.
Mission’s defense was led by McDonald, who had her best game against Bigfork, Rice said.
“She shot the ball real well,” he said.
On Friday, Mission travels to Troy and on Saturday, Mission hosts Seeley, who is ranked.
Seeley is non-conference, so Mission will focus on a win against Troy this week in practice, starting defensively and getting better at shooting, Rice said.
“Its a must-win against Troy,” he said. “That’s the game we will prepare for.”
