Polson wrestles title from Ronan

POLSON — Polson ended Ronan’s two-year hold on the Northwestern A Divisional wrestling title on Saturday at the Linderman gym.
The Pirates, ranked No. 4 in Class A, rolled up 232 points to easily best Ronan, 180, Libby, 176 1/2, Columbia Falls, 136 1/2, and Whitefish, 38.
The Pirates qualified 15 individuals for next weekend’s Class A state tournament in Billings and had four individual champions — Craig Feistner (98), Jacob Young (135), Brock Picard (171) and Kaden Thomas (285).
Picard has won four divisional titles.
Columbia Falls had the most individual winners with five — Seth McCall (105), Sal Baccaro (112), Justin Whitman (119), Shawn Whitman (140) and Kelly Houle (215).
Bacarro and Shawn Whitman repeated as champions.
Ronan, ranked No. 3 and winners of last year’s divisional over Polson by 12 1/2 points, had four individual winners — Cameron Neiss (130), Micky Cheff (152), Cole McArthur (160) and Toby Cheff (189).
Neiss, who came into the divisional with a 33-0 record, won the divisional’s Jug Beck Quick Pin Award. He had three falls in 4:38.
Libby, 10th ranked in A, had two champs — Mike Roby (125) and Bylan Berget (145).
