Wapato 72, Othello 44; Royal 60, Wahluke 31; River View 59, Warden 34; Wilson Creek 64, Columbia Basin Secondary 23

WAPATO — A tough road doubleheader this past weekend may have deflated some of the Othello Lady Huskies’ momentum and push for a top spot in the Central Washington Athletic Conference (CWAC).

Othello fell at Wapato 72-44 on Saturday to wrap up a tough two-game stretch that began with a narrow 51-44 loss at league leaders East Valley the previous evening.

Wapato had five players score in double figures to help lead the host Wolves to a comeback win.

Othello (7-9, 5-9) led 34-30 at halftime before Wapato erupted with a 22-3 third quarter performance to grab a 52-37 lead.

Kylee Mollotte led Othello with 20 points.

In Yakima, the Lady Huskies were down 25-22 at intermission against the unbeaten league leaders.

However, East Valley outscored Othello 11-7 in the third quarter to build the cushion they would need to win.

Tiffany Martinez scored 12 points and Mollotte added 11 for Othello in the loss.

Royal 60, Wahluke 31

ROYAL CITY — Despite a resounding 60-31 win Saturday night against Wahluke, the Lady Knights of Royal were officially eliminated from post season play.

Their non-inclusion to the South Central Athletic Conference (SCAC) playoffs was confirmed Friday when they lost 50-21 at Columbia Burbank (17-1, 10-0).

Royal’s Leslie Brown scored 34 points and grabbed 11 rebounds against Wahluke, while Maggie Leal chipped in with 14 points.

Royal (5-14, 4-8) outscored Wahluke in every quarter to slowly pull away for the win and season sweep.

Brown scored 11 points in the loss at Burbank.

River View 59, Warden 34

WARDEN — Warden fell behind early and couldn’t make up ground on SCAC East challengers River View in a 59-34 loss on Friday.

Warden (2-17, 1-10) trailed 32-15 at halftime.

Kacey Kisler scored 12 points to lead the host Lady Cougars.

Wilson Creek 64, Columbia Basin Secondary 23

WILSON CREEK — The Lady Devils clinched second place in the 1B North Central Washington league behind a strong 64-23 win over visiting Columbia Basin Secondary on Friday.

Wilson Creek (10-5, 10-2) broke out to a 23-3 lead after the first quarter.

Holly Wilson scored 18 points, grabbed 13 rebounds and registered nine steals while Ksenja Fredere added 16 points, 10 steals, six assists, and five rebounds.

Jackie Treat added eight points and eight rebounds for Wilson Creek which led 34-11 by halftime.

The visiting Phoenix were led by Crystal Lloyd’s 15 points and Mariah Rippy’s seven points.
