Dana W. Knudsen, 83, passed away at Kootenai Medical Center in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, on Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2010.

Dana was born in Oakland, Calif., on May 28, 1926, to Herluf and Josephine (Wingate) Knudsen. He served as a Sergeant for the U.S. Army during WWII.

Dana married Bonnie J. Peterson in 1960, in Sacramento, Calif. He owned and operated a construction company. They moved to the Coeur d’Alene area four years ago form Florence, Ore. He enjoyed his hobby of flying.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie of Hayden, Idaho; four children: sons Brad Knudsen of Napa, Calif., Daren Knudsen of Sacramento, Craig Knudsen of Middletown, Calif., and daughter Kierin Nichols of Portland, Ore.; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 920 N. Washington, Ste. 200, Spokane, WA 99201.

At his request, there will be no services. English Funeral Chapel, Coeur d’Alene, is in charge of the arrangements.
