GRANT COUNTY — Grant County Prosecutor Angus Lee was fined $100 by the Public Disclosure Commission.

Lee already paid the $100 fine.

The Friends of Angus Lee Campaign was originally fined $300 after failing to file the seven-day pre-general election C-4 report on time while Lee was running for election as Grant County prosecutor, according to a court document. The report was due Oct. 27, 2009, and was to include the campaign contributions received and campaign expenditures made between Oct. 13, 2009, and Oct. 26, 2009.

The report was apparently filed six days late, on Nov. 2, 2009, according to a findings of fact document.

During the campaign, it was reported $14,755 in contributions were received and $10,305 in expenditures were made. The commission does not dispute the amount of money reported.

Lee does not dispute the report was late.

“Basically our campaign thought that one of the reports was due a few days later than it actually was, so we received a fine,” Lee explained. “My staff did an amazing job with the PDC reporting throughout the campaign. I think it is important to point out that this report was filed before the end of the election and that all campaign contributions and expenditures were properly reported.”

A volunteer with the Lee campaign advised she wrote down the wrong date for when the report was due leading to it being filed six-days late. All other reports were filed on time.

The $300 fine was reduced to $100 on the condition no other PDC violations are committed within the next four years.
