The Libby High School boys basketball team’s season ended on Saturday afternoon with a 49-43 loss to Ronan in the consolation final of the Northwestern A Tournament.

The Loggers opened the tourney on Friday with a 55-37 setback to Polson. Libby put together a good first half to hold leads of 14-10 after the first and 23-17 at halftime but hit a wall in the third quarter. Polson (11-8) outscored the Loggers, 21-2, in the third and never looked back.

Alex Cislo scored 18 points for the Loggers.

Ronan then downed the Loggers on Saturday by pulling away in the fourth. The Chiefs led 18-17 at halftime and the game was tied 30-30 with eight minutes to play.

Colton Cannon scored 12 points and Kelly May added 11 for LHS.

The Loggers end the season at 8-12.

Columbia Falls won the championship game over Polson, 60-46, but then had to go up against Ronan in a challenge game on Monday (played after the newspaper's deadline).

Troy Softball Takes Two From Drummond

The Drummond High School softball team rolled into Troy Saturday with high hopes of ending a long streak of being on the wrong end of the score, and for half of the first game of the doubleheader, looked like they had every chance of doing just that. However the host Trojans exploded for nine runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, and then shut down Drummond in the top of the fifth, winning 14-3. Troy kept the bats hot in the second game, plating 21 runs to end that game early as well, 21-11.
