ARLEE — The Arlee boys basketball team remains undefeated after its 80-40 win over Superior last Saturday.
To get 80 points in a game “felt good,” head coach Clyde Tucker said.
“The kids played really well,” he said.
Arlee scored double-digit points in all four quarters, starting off with 19 in the first.
With a 20-point lead at the half, Tucker started to give his bench some minutes.
“We played 10 kids,” he said. “All 10 scored. That’s one of our strengths, depth.”
The bench played the whole fourth quarter, supplying 19 points.
“At this point, it’s not really a bench,” Tucker said. “I could start any of those 10.”
Kyle Felsman paced the Warriors with 16 points, 13 coming in the first half, John Sansavere added 13 and Kody Morigeau put up 11.
Trae Burland impressed Tucker when he came off the bench, racking up nine points.
Beau Couture “had a great night and was more aggressive than he has been,” Tucker said. Couture added nine points in the game.
The Warriors will face Charlo tonight following the Vikings’ loss to Noxon. One concern for Arlee is Charlo’s size, as the Vikings have three players six-foot-three or taller, Arlee doesn’t have any.
Tucker said he is hoping the Warriors’ quickness will be the difference.
“We have a little more depth as well,” he said. “Our kids have been shooting the ball well lately.”
The two teams met in the pre-season Victor tournament, where the game was close until the end, with Arlee winning 70-51.
