On Monday, January 18, the Boundary County Human  Rights Task Force will again sponsor a celebration of Martin Luther King/Human Rights Day.  This year the program celebrations will be held in the Middle School library at 6 p.m. This project is made possible, in part, by a grant from the Idaho Humanities Council which is a state based affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities.

As in past years the Task Force is holding an art contest open to elementary school students, but it is being expanded to include students who are home schooled.  There will also be an essay contest open to Middle and High School students and their home-schooled counterparts. Winners of the poster contests will be announced, and the posters put on display.  The winning essay will be read. Posters will be on display in January in the basement of our public library.

John Langs will again act as Master of Ceremonies.  Keynote speaker will be Claude Bisson, who recently won the Teacher of the Year Award from the Idaho Human Rights Education Center.   He will speak about his recent trip to Jordan for a conference there.

The entertainment will include some musical surprises.  Barbara Russell will end the program by directing a round dance in which everyone is encouraged to join in.
