The Panhandle State Bank 2009 Community Outreach Program has helped Valley View Elementary School buy new playground equipment for the pre-school and kindergarten center.

During  two weeks in December Valley View PTO raised a total of $3,224. Panhandle State Bank to matched the funds making the total  raised $6,449.

The goal of the Panhandle State Bank Community Match program is to strengthen their commitment to education in the local community.

Angela Hittle,  president of Valley View PTO, put together the fund raisers in record speed, according to Carol Julian, manager for Panhandle State Bank.

“We were pleased to be able to participate in the Valley View PTO fundraiser to raise funds to update the kindergarten/pre-school center playground equipment,” Julian said.

The PTO at Valley View put on fundraisers, including  a ‘Mathathon.’ Students got sponsors for the number of math problems they got correct on a given test.  All students took the test and this project raised $1,736.

Also, during the last week of school before Christmas, the PTO hosted a Holiday Shoppe. At the Holiday Shoppe raffle tickets were sold for two tickets to Silverwood, popcorn and Valley View Elementary School apparel.  This project made $1,487.
