Bound with duct tape, six people were held captive at gunpoint for three hours before being freed Wednesday night.

Justin Calvin Calbick, 30, of Creston was arrested early Thursday morning and faces possible charges of aggravated kidnapping and assault with a weapon, both felonies, and violating a protection order.

Calbick faces new charges on Friday after the bodies of two murder victims were found in a nearby home on Thursday afternoon.

Calbick is "a strong suspect" in the double homicide, according to the Flathead County Sheriff's Office.

Calbick is accused of taking a loaded .22-caliber rifle to the Mennonite Church Road home of his estranged wife. He allegedly held her at gunpoint and told her to tie up her father and her friend with duct tape, then bound her. Three children who were present were reportedly not bound with duct tape.

For the next three hours, the victims endured threats and intimidation from Calbick, who kept the gun on them, according to victim statements.

The friend eventually persuaded Calbick to let her go after promising she would not contact authorities. She also talked him into giving her the rifle. She was freed and returned to her home with the rifle just before 1 a.m. Thursday.

Learning about the ordeal, her husband called the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office.

Four deputies arrived on the scene minutes later.

Through the windows, they observed Calbick watching television. The victims had been untaped.

Deputies entered the home and arrested Calbick without incident.

None of the victims were physically injured and it appeared that Calbick had not been drinking.

He is being held in the Flathead County Detention Center awaiting charges from the Flathead County Attorney’s Office.
