MOSES LAKE — Bans and regulations on fireworks use in Grant County and Adams County vary.

Most communities follow the state’s regulations on fireworks, allowing use between 9 a.m. and midnight where they are allowed on the Fourth of July.

Fireworks are banned in Othello and Moses Lake. In light of the ban, Moses Lake is hosting a fireworks show Sunday night and Othello is hosting a fireworks show Saturday night.

For those failing to follow the law, a $410 infraction is issued, explained Moses Lake Police Chief Dean Mitchell.

“Officers have attempted to educate the public about the ban the past three years; however, this year the department will strictly enforce the ordinance,” he stated. “Fireworks are allowed outside the city limits of Moses Lake. Make sure you know where the city boundaries are.”

In George fireworks are allowed on private property, but are prohibited from public property including parks and roadways.

Ephrata allows ground fireworks but all aerial fireworks are prohibited.

In Coulee City, residents are permitted to use fireworks at Coulee City Community Park.

In Wilson Creek the city urges people to use the downtown baseball park for firework displays, otherwise there are no regulations except for state laws.

In Grant County rural areas, Adams County rural areas, Soap Lake, Warden, Royal City and Mattawa, fireworks use is guided by state regulations.
