MARDON — MarDon Resort is celebrating the Fourth of July by hosting a golf cart parade and a fireworks display.

MARDON — MarDon Resort is celebrating the Fourth of July by hosting a golf cart parade and a fireworks display.

A parade starts at 2 p.m. at the resort. Participants ride in their decorated carts from the resort, all the way through Potholes State Park and back.

“This is a fun community event and the third year we’ve been able to incorporate other resorts into the program,” said Annie Meseberg, events coordinator. “Everyone always gets really into the competition part of the event and we get to see everyone’s creativity. It’s awesome to check out all the decorated cars.”

There is a lead car directing the participants where to go.

Candy and other treats are thrown to the crowd throughout the event.

“There are three judges looking for the most creative decor,” Meseberg said.

The first place winner receives $100. Participants receiving second and third place get gift certificates.

“The fact that there are prizes, gives this event the extra competitive boost that makes this really exciting,” Meseberg said.

The event lasts for two hours, ending at 5 p.m.

MarDon Resort is throwing a firework display event at dusk. It is free and open to the public.

“We hire a private company to set off the fireworks,” Meseberg said. “People can park on the highway and walk down to the marina to choose a spot to sit.”

MarDon Resort is located at 8198 Highway 262 in Othello.
