Sandpoint welcomes new Super 1 store

Super 1 Foods of Hayden opened its 11th store today in Sandpoint, at Milltown Park.  The 54,000 square-foot store on six acres is located at the corner of Boyer Avenue and Larch Street in downtown Sandpoint. 

The store features natural stone and timber accents in a mountain architecture style, enhanced landscaping, several access and egress points, and lots of convenient parking. The store is open 24 hours, seven days a week. 

Super 1 Foods features a butcher shop and fresh produce. There is a large natural foods section, in-store pharmacy, health & beauty area, and even a fireplace in the deli seating area.

The new store will not only serve the growing Sandpoint market, but will also attract customers from the North Idaho Panhandle communities as well as eastern Washington and western Montana. 

Sandpoint is often cited in the national media as one of the best places to live in the Western United States.  The year-round population base of 8,500 people is boosted by summer visitors taking advantage of Lake Pend Oreille’s natural beauty, and in the winter, the area’s dominant ski resort, Schweitzer Mountain. Sandpoint has many art galleries, restaurants, and hosts a 10-day long music festival every summer that attracts large crowds.

Milltown Park is the site of a former sawmill dating from the very early beginning days of Sandpoint as a town. Renova Partners LLC completed a two-year remediation program in 2007 culminating in a Department of Environmental Quality approval for the site remediation.  Milltown Park is 26 acres of zoned commercial land suitable for a wide range of retail, office, hotel, and higher density residential development.
