Twins romp by Gonzaga
The Daily Inter Lake | Hagadone News Network | UPDATED 14 years, 10 months AGO
WHITEFISH - Carl Talsma, Dustin VonFeldt and Geoff Streeter all ripped solo home runs to left field in Glacier's 10-run second inning and the Twins rolled from there to a 22-5 victory over Gonzaga Prep at the 26th annual Sapa-Johnsrud Memorial Tournament Wednesday evening at Memorial Field.
Talsma's round-tripper was his second of the season. It was the fourth home run for VonFeldt and the first for Streeter.
Glacier (17-25 overall) sent 14 batters to the plate in that inning and totaled eight hits.
"Real happy with the offensive effort," Twins coach Lindsay Fansler said. "We were coming off a tough loss last night (13-4 to Kalispell) and being short on pitching, the kids responded well."
Glacier, playing its fourth game in three days, finished with 19 hits.
Streeter and Cody Hill both went 3 for 5 and Streeter had a team-high four RBIs.
Glacier's Kris Gross went 3 for 4 and drove in three runs.
"He (Gross) really kept some of the innings alive with timely hits," Fansler said.
Glacier continues with tournament play today, 8 p.m., versus the Chino Red.
CORRECTION: Kyle Knox went 1 for 4 with an RBI for the Glacier Twins in their game against Kalispell on Tuesday night.
