Lucille Thelma McLaughlin (Gumm), 94, of Coeur d’Alene, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2010.
She was born to the late Charles and Eva Gumm, Sept. 9, 1915, in Colville, Wash. In 1933, Lucille married the late Leroy McLaughlin. She spent her life in Spokane, Wash., and her later years in Coeur d’Alene. Lucille will join her three siblings in Heaven: Lt. Charles Gumm Jr., Ross Gumm and Velda Oye.
Lucille was given the nickname of Grandma Mac along with her daughter Grandma Nan (Nancy) when the great-grandchildren thought of this idea and it stuck. Grandma Mac always enjoyed cookie baking during the holidays, reading, playing the piano, sewing and of course, storytelling. She was an avid gardener and loved outdoor activities (huckleberry picking and dips in the pool). She was a loving and caring person who always gave others a helping hand when needed. Grandma Mac you will be missed by all family and friends.
She is survived by her two children, Nancy Pickett (Coeur d’Alene) and Lee McLaughlin (Lolo, Mont.); five grandchildren, Charles Davis, Kevin Davis, Frank Davis, Christine Johnson and Shelley Green; 12 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Along with several other family members.
At her request there will be no service.
The family wishes in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Hospice of North Idaho or any charity of your choice in her memory.
The family wishes to thank the entire staff of Hospice of North Idaho and Rose Terrace Assisted Living for their care and compassion of Lucille. Also thanks to Country Comforts Cottages for your kindness on Sundays and gatherings.
