COEUR d'ALENE - A wildfire on Tubbs Hill on Saturday burned roughly 400 square feet before it was extinguished, and fire officials said people caused it.
Glenn Lauper of the Coeur d'Alene Fire Department said some heavy grass and duff was burned. It was on the 11th Street side of the park.
Firefighters responded after 10 a.m. and worked the fire for about an hour. Crews will continue checking on the fire because of strong winds that are predicted.
Anyone who sees smoke on Tubbs Hill is asked to call 911, he said.
"We were lucky this was reported quickly," he said.
