Fundraiser for 1-year-old boy, Take Two

They want to do more.
Locals who held a fundraiser this past weekend for Emmett Snyders, a 1-year-old Coeur d'Alene boy with cancer, would like to give it another try this weekend.
"Hopefully this (past weekend) was just a dry run, and next time we'll do much better," said Vern Mathis, general manager of Findlay-Hyundai-Mazda in Post Falls.
The car dealership and Blue Sky Broadcasting raised over $1,200 this past weekend with an event where Boy Scouts collected donations from drivers and $250 of every sold car was donated to the Snyders family.
The car dealership will hold another event from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, Mathis said, with the help of three radio stations that will hopefully draw a bigger crowd to the dealership at 1665 East Edmonton Avenue.
He emphasized that drivers don't even have to get out of their vehicles to hand over donations to the scouts.
"They can just drive through and make a donation," he said.
Although Mathis doesn't personally know the family of Emmett Snyders, who has already undergone several intensive treatments for neuroblastoma, he was moved by the family's story, he said.
"Anything we can do to help this little guy we want to do," Mathis said. - Alecia Warren
