Carol Ann Creel was born on Dec. 6, 1933, in Long Beach, Calif., to Jewel (Fathers) and Stephen Lattner. She passed away peacefully on July 1, 2010, in Coeur d'Alene, surrounded by her family.
She was raised in Seattle, Wash. Carol has one sister, Linda Lewis. On Sept. 19, 1951, she married Frank Westmoreland, and they had five children together. David (Galena), Frank Jr. (deceased at 6 weeks old), Kenny (Beth), Donna (Tim Johnson) and Steven Westmoreland. After the marriage ended, she married Jesse Creel and moved to the New Orleans area. Where she worked as a proofreader for Western Electric for almost 20 years. They lived there for 26 years before moving to Coeur d'Alene to be near her daughter.
Carol is blessed with eight grandchildren, Jennifer, Caroline, Rebeccah, Wayne, Sheena, Luke and Jay. Family, Friends and Church were always very important to her. Carol had been an active volunteer for the McGrane Center, Hospice and had worked at KMC kids and Sr. Companions. Due to early detection, she was a colon cancer survivor.
A love for a wide range of music, reading, crossword puzzles and CHOCOLATE were just a few other favorite things. She will also be remembered for her extreme intelligence and ability to win at Trivial Pursuit and Scrabble. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Our family wishes to offer a heartfelt thank you to the wonderful caring staff at Coeur d'Alene Homes. They showed so much compassion and dedication to our Mom and to our family. Hospice of North Idaho was very comforting in Carol's last weeks, we are so grateful that she is free from the pain.
Special thanks to her friend. Marge for always being there and to Juanita, you are a wonderful gift. Phyllis, you filled her days with laughter and fun.
Services have already been held. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Carol's name to CDA Homes. Yates Funeral Homes was entrusted with the care of final arrangements.
