The Kootenai County Republicans have opened the largest North Idaho office they have ever had.

"We have 2,500 square feet devoted to providing candidates with office space during elections," said Jeff Ward, office manager.

The office opened July 4 and is in the Northern Lights Mall at 411 W. Haycraft Ave., Suite D4 and D5.

"We have a meeting room, a sign shop, a mailing room and a phone-bank with 20 phones," Ward said.

The Republican National Committee donated a grant to the Idaho RNC to open the office.

"We will use this site as a joint office for all Republican campaigns in the county," Ward said.

The office is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.

• Thom George, Kootenai County Democratic office manager, said he finds the new Republican office interesting because "historically, they do not maintain an office on a year-round basis. They open the office during election years and then close afterward."

The Kootenai County Democratic office is at 1124 E. Sherman Ave., second door on the right. The office is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m Monday through Friday.
