MARKET: Sharing some veggie tales

As a long time vendor at the KC Farmers’ Market, I usually do not get out of my booth much during the Market. Last weekend, I did not sell, so was able to wander and shop at the Market at 8 a.m. Over the 30 minutes I was shopping, I realized I had heard variations on “Where is all the produce?” six or seven times.

To my eyes, there was lots of produce: lettuce, onions, carrots, spinach, peas, garlic, broccoli, chard, cauliflower, apricots, strawberries, cherries, blueberries & much more. I think the comments I heard actually meant “Where are the tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers and corn?”

This is a local market specializing in items from within 100 miles.  We believe in the healthy aspects of very fresh, low carbon footprint produce and fruit. We also believe in putting money in the hands of those who actually grow your food, not the person who trucks it in.
