Grove, Porter in hunt at Rosauers

SPOKANE - A pair of former Coeur d'Alene High standouts are in contention after the first round of the 54-hole Rosauers Open golf tournament Friday at Indian Canyon Golf Course.
Russell Grove shot a 5-under-par 66 and is tied for third place. Taylor Porter fired a 4-under 67 and is tied for seventh.
Kyle Kelly from Tamarisk Country Club in Palm Springs, Calif., leads with a 9-under 62, two shots better than defending champion Corey Prugh of Manito Golf and Country Club.
Chris Mitchell, former pro at the Coeur d'Alene Public, also shot 67, as did Brent Wolf (Coeur d'Alene Public).
Other locals: Josh Gold (StoneRidge), Kyler Gable (Avondale, ex-Coeur d'Alene High) and Brent Walsh (Hayden Lake CC), 71; Greg Brown (Prairie Falls), 74; and Tim Morton (Liberty Lake; former Prairie Falls pro), 77.
The tourney, with a $135,000 purse, continues today and ends Sunday.
