CHICKENS: Council is clucking crazy

After reading the Coeur d’Alene Press’s front page story “Don’t count your chickens,” it has solidly confirmed my opinion that the entire City Council is incompetent and totally out of touch with reality! Coeur d’Alene is not “Green Acres.” This is the 21st century, not the 19th!

The City Council is catering to a few locals, without any serious thought to the adverse effects. Chickens and barnyard animals. Chicken manure smells, chickens make noise! Try selling your house when your neighbor has 30 chickens. Mr. Kennedy and Mr. Edinger need to grow up. But they’re probably thinking of the votes this decision will generate. I can see the new Chamber of Commerce ad for bringing people to CDA: “Come to CDA, you can have an unlimited number of chickens in the city limits.”

What’s next? Pigs, cows, goats, sheep! This decision shouldbe on “America’s Most Ridiculous.” This is not the type of thoughtful governing we want to represent our emerging city!
