HAYDEN: Unwise spending hurts now

The Joneses don’t live in Hayden!

Where else will the city of Hayden look for money? Raise the rates, charge more fees, make people pay to use a beautiful natural resource! Restrict the money pit of Government Way to certain traffic! What next for that little stretch of roadway? Why not toll booths so everyone can admire the sidewalks, the welcome signs and the islands that now appear to be more hazardous than good? I questioned a city employee while the road was all torn up as to why they were not doing a complete job and burying the ugly utility poles? He said they didn’t have the money so they did half a job and we still stare at the ugly utility poles.

With all these embellishments what is there in Hayden that a couple might want to stroll on these sidewalks in the evening? The dry cleaners, the UPS store? WOW!

What I am getting at was that there was no real reason for all these costs except that someone in the City Hall felt Hayden had to be up there with the Joneses! Where are the coffee shops, the gift shops, the sporting goods stores, the candy shop, places that people like to walk to? They don’t exist! I don’t think I am alone when I say there is nothing that I would want to walk to in Hayden.

Nothing against the businesses that have been there a long time; I give them credit for enduring this garbage and loss of income while these shenanigans were transpiring but these are not businesses that you would want to frequent on the nice evening walk. So now Hayden spent the money and now when the economy and building is down the coffers are empty and Hayden is scrounging for money. It’s too bad that when the bank was full someone didn’t have the sense to say “NO!” to all this frivolous spending just to keep up with Joneses. Good luck Hayden resident, watch your pockets!
