Reid cited in
two-car collision
After a two-car collision Thursday afternoon, Karen Reid of Northern Ireland was cited for failure to stop at the stop sign at Third Street and Foster Avenue.
The collision with a car driven by Nick Amorin of Coeur d'Alene flipped Reid's rental car on its roof, causing traffic to be diverted until response crews were able to clear the vehicles and debris. No injuries were reported, although The Press published a photo Friday showing firefighter Mike Fredrick putting a Band-Aid on the knee of Jordan Reid.
Department to
use PayPal Pro
Let them pay online.
The Kootenai County commissioners unanimously approved a virtual terminal agreement on Tuesday with PayPal Pro, which the Building and Planning Department will utilize to process credit card transactions online.
The service will allow individuals pursuing land-use applications to pay application fees online.
"This is a step in the right direction," said Commissioner Todd Tondee. "I think it will help people who use the planning department, especially contractors. They don't have to come down here, they can do it all from their desk."
The planning department already conducts some services online, including electronic plan review.
Customers who use PayPal will be charged a user fee of 2.9 percent of the total charge, plus a 30 cent transaction fee.
The county will pay PayPal $30 a month, and may terminate the contract at any time.

BMX park proposal in Post Falls on hold
POST FALLS - A proposal to build a BMX park in Post Falls is on hold.
The City Council last year agreed to the concept and city staff developed a list of site options.
A site along Interstate 90 at Seltice Way and Chase Road rose is the preferred site, but a local BMX association has decided to pass, City Administrator Eric Keck said.
"It is apparently too small and would not accommodate the parking that they anticipated," Keck said, adding the city will continue to explore options.
The optimal site would be centrally-located in the city, close to Centennial Trail from where bikers could access the park and on relatively flat ground, proponents say.
Public can vote for Classical Christian
POST FALLS - Classical Christian Academy of Post Falls is working to be one of 20 schools across the nation to receive $500,000 each in grants that will be chosen in a Facebook contest that runs through Sept. 3.
The community can assist the school in its efforts in the $10 million Kohl's Cares contest by voting online for Classical Christian Academy in Post Falls at http://www.facebook.com/kohls or http://bit.ly/KohlsCares.
If CCA is chosen to receive one of the 20 grants, the funds would be used to build academic programs and invest in several key elements of the school's strategic plan.
For more information on CCA or the contest, call Dirk Darrow or Pam Manson at 777-4400 or visit www.classicalchristian.com or Facebook.
