Hayden Red falls in state 9-10 title game

MERIDIAN - Hayden Red led 4-1 after 2 1/2 innings, but West Valley scored four runs in the bottom of the third to win 5-4 in the deciding game of the Little League age 9-10 best-of-3 state baseball playoffs Sunday at McDermott Park.

West Valley scored its four third-inning runs on one hit, four walks and two errors en route to capturing the series 2 games to 1.

Jayce Bailey hit an RBI single for Hayden in the first inning. Carter Friesz doubled with one out in the second, and Jake Kettell drove him in with a single. Jackson Sumner and Mikey Kelley each doubled and Keaton Howard singled in a two-run third.

But West Valley pitchers held Hayden Red to one hit and one walk over the final three innings.
