ATHOL — Home is where the heart is.

And in some cases, a whole lot more.

Al and Daryl Kyle of Athol have operated a bed and breakfast for nine years on their family's farm, Cedar Mountain Farm, which has been in the family for three generations.

After raising seven children on the property, the pair now want to expand their rustic resort to also include equine assisted therapy to help individuals facing emotional and mental challenges.

The operation would be open to use by public and private agencies, schools, churches and nonprofits, if Kootenai County approves a permit.

Their first desire is to protect their family heritage on the property, according to the Kyles' permit application.

"Our second desire is to share this treasure with others less fortunate," the application reads. - Alecia Warren
