SANDPOINT — U.S. Marshals are hunting for a Ponderay man who failed to appear in federal court for violating the terms of his supervised released in a weapons possession case.
Joseph Eugene Lemieux’s last known address was 476442 U.S. Highway 95. He has no known job or vehicle.
Lemieux is 5 feet, 11 inches tall and weighs 145 pounds. He has hazel eyes and brown hair. He has worn a beard, although federal agents said Lemieux was clean-shaven when he was last seen.
Lemieux, a 42-year-old who was born in Nevada, was arrested in Lincoln County, Mont., in 2006 for possession of unlicensed silencers and interstate transportation of the devices, according to federal court records. He was tried and convicted in U.S. District Court in Missoula the following year.
Lemieux was given concurrent 24-month sentences on the two charges and placed on supervised release for three years. A special condition of his release required him to participate in mental health treatment, court records indicate.
Lemieux served his custodial sentence at a federal medical center in Butner, N.C. After his release, Lemieux’s supervision was transferred from Montana to Idaho. Lemieux was living in Spirit Lake when the jurisdiction was transferred.
Marshals said Lemieux violated the terms of his supervised release by using marijuana.
Those with information about Lemieux’s whereabouts are asked to contact Deputy U.S. Marshal Alex Claunts at (208) 667-6840, extension 210.
