Anne Katherine (Ratynski, Wasescha) Hinsley went to be with the Lord while at home on May 25, 2010, in Bonners Ferry. Anne was born to Milton and Tillie Ratynski on July 2, 1940, in Richmond, Va.

After growing up in New Jersey and New York she attended Buffalo State graduating with a degree in art education. She joined the Peace Corps and served in Puerto Rico where she met her first husband, Blaine Wasescha. She then spent six years in a remote village in Kwethluk, Alaska, teaching native Aleuts and Athabascan Indians while earning her master’s in rural education.

Anne moved to Sandpoint, with her three children in 1980. She taught at Selkirk School, Rocky Mountain Academy and After School Academy in Sandpoint. One of her favorite quotes was “Some people think that you put life on hold to have a child but I know that to hold a child is life.” This philosophy coupled with her faith was lived out in her service within the Sandpoint Christian Center and various service opportunities throughout the community. Anne was a gifted and creative artist, teacher, and gardener and instilled her love of those things in the lives of those around her.

She married Pastor Dan Hinsley on Aug. 19, 1990, and they enjoyed 20 years together. In 2004 they moved to Bonner’s Ferry where she worked at Boulder Creek Academy and attended the Assembly of God and then Mountain Springs Church.

She will be missed by her husband, Pastor Dan Hinsley; three children, Eric and Jen Wasescha of San Diego, Calif., Heidi and Darren Gabrielsen of Hayden, and Juliette and Steve Temperli of Elkton, S.D.; and grandchildren Heather and Levi Gabrielsen; her mother, Tillie Ratynski; sisters Libby Campbell and Cindy Bozzuto, and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 19, 2010, at the Sandpoint Christian Center in Sandpoint. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to Cocolalla Lake Bible Camp in Memory of Anne, P.O. Box 106 Cocolalla, ID 83813.
