POST FALLS - Post Falls Days starts its three-day run on Friday with a myriad of family activities at Q'emiln Park.
The event includes free music, food and craft vendors, a carnival and the Grand Parade on Seltice Way at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
"We have more craft vendors than ever," said Penny Lindner of the city's Parks and Recreation Department, organizer of the activities at the park. "We have 76 and last year there were 61."
Twenty food vendors are also expected.
New this year will be a petting zoo and camel rides next to the Lion's Pavilion.
Vendors will be open from 2-8 p.m. on Friday, the carnival 1-10 p.m. and music 3-8 p.m.
Saturday's highlights, in addition to the events at the park, include an open house at the fire station on Idaho Street from noon to 3 p.m. after the parade.
The parade will feature the Coeur d'Alene-based Blazen Divaz women's group, a nonprofit formed in January to bring entertainment to parades and special events in the region.
Vendors will be open on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and the carnival 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Music runs from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
A Big Wheel race will be held at 1:30 p.m.
Sunday's agenda includes a fishing derby at Falls Park from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., vendors and carnival noon to 5 p.m. and music 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Discount carnival wristbands can be purchased for $18 today or while supplies last on Thursday at the Parks and Recreation Department at City Hall. The $6 discount is good for a five-hour session on any of the days.
Free shuttle bus rides to the park will be offered on Saturday after the parade until 6 p.m. and on Sunday from noon to 3 p.m. from Red Lion Templin's Hotel, 414 E. First Ave., and from City Hall, 408 N. Spokane St. The bus departs every 15 minutes. Parking at the park can be difficult to find at peak times.
