Lance Norman, candidate for Flathead County Sheriff, is more concerned with the 'recreational" aspects of the sheriff's office. All Mr. Norman talks about are snowmobiles, horses, boats, deer catchers and light bars on the cruisers that cause too much wind resistance.
What? Is he kidding? I don't think Mr. Norman wants to be known as the "Parks and Rec Sheriff."
Then there's Chuck Curry. Here we have a man who quit law enforcement because he didn't like the administrative part of the job. Now he wants to be the top administrator. What has changed in six years that has caused Mr. Curry to now covet a position that is so heavily tasked with administrative duties?
It is common knowledge that while undersheriff, Mr. Curry was seldom seen at the sheriff's office, and on those rare occasions when he did show up for work, it was in street clothes and with no gun.
How can we trust a man who never took his job seriously when he had it? I for one cannot and will not. We need a sheriff who will show up for work, and we need a sheriff who's not simply going to hand out free pony rides and boat tours.
Thank God, Mike Meehan is stepping up again to run for sheriff of Flathead County. We need him to continue in that position because he knows how tough the job can be, and he knows how to protect us.
On June 8, I will be voting for the man who can handle the job and will do right by the taxpayer. I will be voting to re-elect Sheriff Meehan.

Disturbed by treatment of county's seniors
I was deeply disturbed after reading the write up in recent newspapers the Lapps’ proposal that the Flathead County Commissioners sign a two-year lease on the Red Barn that the Lapps own and have been renting to the Agency on Aging.
Praise for highway construction workers
I am one of the Site Managers at the Whitefish Community Center and would like to PRAISE the employees that have been working so hard Constructing the new road, bridge and sidewalks. They all have been so kind and tolerant of the traffic and still get their work done. What they have completed so far looks so nice. When it is all finished it will be such a wonderful improvement. A great big THANK YOU to all of them for their patience and hard work.
