The Bonners Ferry Blaze 10-U fast pitch traveling team on Saturday split a double header with the Spokane Crash.
In the second game, the Blaze lit up the field with infield action and Kadi Batemen, 10, threw the heat to have a shut out score of 5-0 going into the fifth.
The fifth inning the Crash came back and scored five runs, leaving the teams tied and the Blaze with last batting rights. Catcher and short stop, Kassy Skeen, 10, stole home plate to win the game 6-5.
The first game the Blaze lost 14-2 against Spokane Crash who have played more than 20 games this season in three states.
“The girls were a little intimidated and nervous upon arrival to the game and let the Crash’s record get to them,” said Tracy Golder, assistant coach.
This set of games brought the Blaze’s second and third games for the season. The Blaze lost to Nine Mile Falls, Wash., in April.
The Spokane Crash is 19-3 on the season with two tourney titles and two second place finishes in their four appearances.
“I am really proud of you girls, you you came back to win and that is huge,” said Tomi Bateman head coach.
The Blaze will play a three-game tournament in Coeur d’ Alene on Saturday.
