Saturday's Class B All-Star game was the perfect ending for two Plains-Hot Springs Savage Horsemen after a great high school career. Brian Green from Plains and Reiley Winebrenner were both selected for the game and helped the Northern squad to a come from behind victory, 13-10.

"That was the second best game I ever played in besides Eureka (a 13-12 come from behind victory this last fall) as far as the excitement at the end," says Green who played as receiver and finished the day with three catches for 25 yards. "It was pretty sweet because there were a ton of perople there. The stands were all full."

Speaking of Eureka, after playing against one of the state's best running backs, Chad Price, for four years Winebrenner, playing as quarterback, found himself handing the football off to him all week in practice rather than defending him.

"It's weird. You're not used to it, but it's fun because you play with guys who are the best," explains Winebrenner who had both a catch in the game for 23 yards, a 4-11 throwing effort for a total of 55 yards and a couple of punts.

Although both the Savage Horsemen played on offense the game was truly dominated by the defense, perhaps because of the short amount of time the team had together.

Their first practice was on Tuesday and had only four days of practice, but Green says it was enough for the North who he says practiced more than the South.

"It was fun beating the south, because they were cocky all week. They didn't practice as long as we did. They said ‘we didn't need it," says Green.

It may have been the last official game on the football field for Green. He'll be attending The University of Montana in the Fall and has not decided whether he'll try to walk onto the Grizzly football team or not.

As for Winebrenner he'll definitely have more football in his future. He'll be reporting to MSU Northern on August 7, where he'll be playing safety for the team.
