NIC offers free online classes to unemployed

North Idaho College is offering a series of free online classes to the unemployed this summer.

The NIC Workforce Training Center partnered with Growth Strategies, Inc., to offer the online classes that include topics such as confronting financial fear, women and money, telecommuting and buying a business.

Each class is offered in 12 sessions and is free to anyone currently collecting unemployment compensation.

“The classes are themed around topics that would be of interest and benefit to the unemployed to help them stay positive and find innovative solutions to re-entering the workforce,” said NIC Workforce and Community Education Director Marie Price.

Since the classes became available in March, more than 40 individuals have utilized the free classes. Top selections are “How to Start an Internet Business,” “How to Start a Home-Based Business” and “How to Earn a Living Freelancing.”

Each course runs six weeks and is in an independent learning format, meaning students work at their own pace. Various start times are offered for each class and late enrollments are accepted.

To enroll, call the NIC Workforce Training Center at (208) 769-3333 or visit http://www.gsinet.org/cedemo/classes.htm to view the catalog of all available classes.
