GEORGE — A passing attempt on Interstate 90 Saturday caused a vehicle to leave the highway and roll 12 miles west of George, injuring four people.

Both vehicles were traveling eastbound when one attempted to pass the other in the left lane, according to the Washington State Patrol on Sunday. The passing vehicle reportedly struck the other, causing the driver to lose control and roll the vehicle.

The driver of the passing vehicle, Marvin G. Finch, 70, Ellensburg, was transported to Quincy hospital to be treated for possible lacerations.

Passenger Ellen B. Finch, 67, Ellensburg, was transported to be treated for possible lacerations.

The driver of the second vehicle, William E. Toman, 67, Auburn, was transported to Quincy hospital for treatment of possible lacerations, as well as passenger Gladys M. Toman, 71, Auburn.

The state patrol reported the cause of the collision was the passing vehicle was traveling too fast and indicated charges were pending.
