Polson boys win, move on to second round of state

Polson beats Billings Central, 65-53

The Polson boys basketball team won its opening game of the Class A boys state basketball tournament by beating Billings Central 65-53.

Polson, the second seed from the Northwest, over took the Rams, the first seed from the east.

Up next, the Pirates will face the winner of the Butte Central/Corvallis game 6:30 p.m. tomorrow in Butte where the winner will make the title game.

Maidens lose two

Sophomore Nina Orozco dives for a ball during the Tip-off tournament. Against Big Sky last Tuesday, Ronan lost 63-13. Junior Jonna Grant led with four points and went two-for-two at the free throw line. Last Saturday, the Maidens lost 40-33 to Mission. Orozco led with nine points.
