Beach powers Chiefs past Seattle

KENT, Wash. - Kyle Beach had two goals and an assist as the Spokane Chiefs defeated the cellar-dwelling Seattle Thunderbirds 3-1 in Western Hockey League action in front of 4,353 at the ShoWare Center on Saturday.
"It was another good road effort for our guys," Spokane coach Hardy Sauter said. "Our defense did a solid job and James Reid (19 saves) stopped the shots he should have stopped."
Spokane took a 1-0 lead 14 seconds into the game on Blake Gal's ninth goal of the season.
Former Coeur d'Alene Laker Tyler Johnson added his 33rd goal of the season on an assist by Levko Koper early in the third period to put Spokane ahead 3-0.
Spokane (42-21-3-2 89 points) hosts Kelowna on Tuesday at the Spokane Arena.
