MOSES LAKE — After 10 years of honing is skills at other practices, Dr. Kevin Osbourne has decided to strike out on his own, establishing Advanced Eye Care Associates.

His new facility is located at 215 E. Broadway in Moses Lake.

Advanced Eye Care Associates will not open for another “week or two,” Osbourne said. Meanwhile, he and his staff are busy installing equipment and otherwise preparing the practice.

“It’s going to be state of the art,” Osbourne said. “We’re going to have a digital refracting lane, as well as other high-tech equipment.”

The opportunity to go high-tech is one of the reasons Osbourne chose to set up his own practice. He’ll be able to decide to keep his practice modern without having to seek approval of partners.

“Some optometrists are technology-averse,” he said.

Advanced Eye Care Associates will offer digital photos of the back of the eye. It will offer visual field exams and corneal topography.

“The optical area is going to be very nice, very boutique,” Osbourne said.

Osbourne is a native of Canada. He earned a bachelor of arts with honors from the University of Alberta. He was awarded a Doctorate of Optometry degree by Pacific University in Oregon in 1999.

Osbourne has worked all over since then, including Oregon and Las Vegas. He has worked for Valley Eye Care in Moses Lake the past four years.

Advanced Eye Care Associates will have a full laboratory. It will produce its own lenses and edge them into their frames. It will be able to make a pair of glasses in two hours.

“In an emergency, theoretically, we can make your glasses while you wait,” Osbourne said.

Patients will be able to expect glasses within a week and fill prescriptions by other optometrists.

“It normally takes 10 days to two weeks to get new glasses. We can cut that in half,” Osbourne said.

Advanced Eye Care Associates is located in the same building as longtime Moses Lake veterinarian Dr. Brian Higgins. According to Osbourne, there has been “real good response to the sign and location.”
