Ephrata hospital hosts health fair

Ephrata — Columbia Basin Hospital offers testing and screening at a health fair this week.

Health care professionals offer a range of services from blood analysis to free immunizations for children. Blood analysis includes tests for blood sugar, lipids, anemia, thyroid, kidney and electrolytes.

The event begins Tuesday and lasts until Thursday. The health fair is open from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the Ephrata Recreation Center, located at 121 Alder Street S.W.

Bone density tests, colon cancer screening and Carotid Doppler screening are available but costs. Blood analysis tests are $25 per test, a prostate cancer test is $15, blood typing tests are $5 each, colon cancer screening is $25 and Carotid Doppler screening is $25.

Ephrata Rotary Club members and Grant County Health District workers are sponsoring free children’s immunizations. Participants can schedule appointments for the hospital at the fair.

Inland Northwest Blood Center workers are recruiting bone marrow donor volunteers at the fair.

Columbia Basin Hospital officials ask blood test participants to not eat or drink anything except water and prescription medication for at least 12 hours before testing. They also advice attendees to drink plenty of water.

Columbia Basin Hospital is hosting a family night Thursday, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The event is free and provides dinner for families and interactive games for children.
