MISSOULA - Charlo boys' track and field team beat a school record April 27 at the 12th annual Russ Plicher/Western Montana Top 10 meet at Missoula County Stadium.

The boys' 400 relay team finished fourth with a time of 44.54, which beat the Charlo High School record.

Three members of the Charlo boys' track and field team also placed in events.

Senior Cody Nitschke placed fourth in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.61 seconds. Junior Chico Stipe placed fifth in the 100 with a time of 11.59.

"I thought all of our kids did very well," head coach Bret Thompson said. "We all ran season best or really close to it."

Senior pole vaulters Chance Firestone and Jame Petersen competed at the meet but didn't score high enough to place.

"I know they weren't too happy with what they got," Thompson said. "They didn't have a lot of warm-up time and they were not expecting to start jumping at the height the officials chose."

The girls' 1600 meter relay team also competed but were not able to place.

Charlo's next meet is at 10 a.m. on Saturday in Missoula.
