SUNNYSIDE — They live to see another day in hopes of earning even more.

Moses Lake High School’s baseball team travelled to Sunnyside on Tuesday needing two wins in order to stay alive for a potential Big 9 District playoff berth.

They took care of business in the grandest way possible, dispatching their hosts in rude fashion, blowing out Sunnyside 16-2 and 17-0 in two five-inning victories.

The Chiefs (8-11, 7-5) host Davis in a one-game playoff on Friday at Big Bend Community College with the first pitch scheduled for 4 p.m.

Whoever wins that contest advances into a Big 9 District Play-In game as the Cascade Division’s No. 4 seed and would play — as of press time — Kamiakin, the Columbia Division No. 3 seed.

However, that seeding could still change due to games still pending.

In the first game, Moses Lake used a seven-inning fifth inning to put away Sunnyside.

Mitch Yada stated and recorded the win, while the offense was led by Dylan Signorelli who went 3-for-4 with two RBI, Tanner Lowry’s 2-for-3 outing with three RBI and Cameron Alvarado’s 3-for-4 output which included one run batted in.

Yada went 2-for-2 with two RBI and Matt Garza hit 2-for-5 for the Chiefs.

Moses Lake scored seven runs in the second, and six runs in the fourth inning of their nightcap thrashing to complete to two-game sweep.

Signorelli earned the win from the mound while aiding his cause at the plate with a 3-for-3 performance with two RBI.

Alvarado went 2-for-4 with two homeruns including a grand slam in the fourth inning and seven RBI.

Lowry went 2-for-2 with an RBI, Matt Noyola also hit 2-for-2 with an RBI and Kody Samuels finished 3-for-3 with an RBI.
