MOSES LAKE — Rebekah McCabe recalls how much facials helped some of her late relatives suffering from cancer.

They were in the last stages of life, experiencing pain and heavily medicated.

“Just the human touch aspect would relax them and quiet them,” she said.

McCabe, owner of Essentials Skin & Wellness Center, also helps cancer patients through her business.

She is holding a fund-raiser from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, for the Columbia Basin Cancer Foundation.

She offers free chair massages, skin scanning consultations and mini facials for free.

In exchange, customers are asked to donate to the cancer foundation.

“That’s part of my passion,” she says.

A few years ago, McCabe was asked to speak to the organization about solutions to skin problems associated with chemotherapy.

“People were looking for answers about rashes, excessive dryness and burns from chemotherapy,” she said.

“Anytime I have a chance to do something for them, I do,” she says. “It really brought the need to my attention for what people are needing.”

She found the Lindi Skin line of products, which is supported by the American Cancer Society and used by the Mayo Clinic.

The product is designed specifically for compromised skin due to cancer treatment.

“I started wanting to get the education out there,” McCabe commented.

McCabe moved into her current business location in November the Vista Village Center in Moses Lake. She previously worked along at another location.

Massage therapist Teresa Allen and esthetic apprentice Cindy Alporque are also part of her business.

“To me, it’s been kind of a building process,” McCabe explained. “I’ve been in the industry for 14 years and saw a need for the community that was a result-oriented treatment in a spa environment.”

Her business offers relaxing massages and healing massage.

She expects Bowen therapy to be offered within the next six months. It is a therapy dealing with holistic healing of the body through rolling of the muscles and trigger points.
