QUINCY — Grant County Fire District 3 responded to a grass fire near South Frontage Road outside of George Tuesday afternoon.

Chief Don Fortier said the fire burned between two and three acres of grass. Structures were threatened at the time of the fire but it was extinguished within about 10 to 15 minutes with no damages to the buildings.

When firefighters arrived, people were already attempting to stop the fire by shoveling sand on the flames, he said.

It appears a spark from someone cutting metal may have started the fire, Fortier explained.

There were no injuries.
