MOSES LAKE — Larry Q. Bronson, 28, Moses Lake, was arrested for vehicular assault after reportedly crashing into a Grant County sheriff’s deputy patrol car Saturday night near Moses Lake.

Bronson was traveling northbound on Road E Northeast in a 1997 Chevrolet Blazer, said Grant County Chief Deputy Courtney Conklin. He reportedly failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection with Road 4 Northeast and entered the path of an oncoming car.

Deputy Brandon Bernard was traveling in a 2009 Ford Crown Victoria patrol car and struck the SUV on the passenger side. Conklin said Bernard attempted to avoid the crash. The patrol car entered a ditch as the SUV entered a ditch and rolled.

Bernard was taken to Samaritan Healthcare for observation but did not report injuries, Conklin said.

Bernard’s passenger, David A. Canfield, 55, Ephrata, was taken to Samaritan Healthcare for observation. Canfield was participating in a civilian ride-along, Conklin explained.

Bronson was taken to Samaritan Healthcare for treatment for possible abrasions prior to being booked into Grant County Jail.

Bronson had four passengers in his SUV, Conklin said.

Mary S. Westenskow, 19, Moses Lake, was transported to Samaritan for treatment for a possible lacerated spleen and shattered vertebrae.

Tami K. Brown, 24, Moses Lake, and Jennifer A. Wallo, 27, Moses Lake, were taken to Samaritan Healthcare for treatment of possible abrasions.

Benjamin Rodriguez, 27, Moses Lake, did not report injuries.

The collision remains under investigation by the state patrol.
