Spring is in the air! For the allergy sufferer, so is the possibility for miserable sinus congestion, sneezing, swelling, itchy eyes, and coughing. For those that suffer from seasonal allergies, relief might be as simple as a five minute adjustment at your local chiropractor's office.

The objective of chiropractic is not to treat or cure diseases of any kind. Chiropractic concerns itself with the removal of interference in your nervous system.

Your nervous system is made up of your brain, spinal cord, and nerves that carry messages back and forth from your brain to the organs, cells, and tissues of the body. These messages carry all of the information that allow for your body to function. When these messages are unable to make it to their destination due to interference within the system, vital information is never received and optimal function is impaired.

Chiropractic care focuses on those interferences within the spine called subluxations. Your spine is made up of 24 bones stacked upon one another. Protected by the spine is the spinal cord that transports vital information to and from the brain. At each bone in the spine, nerves exit the bone through small holes and travel out into the body. If a bone in the spine is subluxated, or moved out of place due to some stress, these nerves that exit the bone can become strained and not able to transmit messages at their peak potential. The resulting problems can be dynamic and numerous.

Subluxations can lead to abnormalities with immune system function. Allergies themselves are an overreaction of the immune system to invaders such as pollen and ragweed. The resulting reactions are your body's attempt to overcompensate for the invaders and clear them out of your system as quick as possible, bringing you to misery in a matter of minutes.

At your local chiropractor's office, subluxations within the spine will be analyzed and adjusted to remove the interference within the nervous system. By eliminating these subluxations, your chiropractor will assist in restoring your natural immune function. After all, when you are not allowing your nervous system to function as it should, you are not utilizing all the possible tools (messages) your brain, organs, tissues, and cells produce to keep you safe from harm and healthy. By restoring that function, the body is allowed to properly heal itself.

In terms of allergies, the benefits can be astounding. When you let the immune system function at its peak by removing interference, allergies can be reduced or even eliminated.

So before you reach for a tissue this spring, why not instead reach for the phone and find out what chiropractic care can do for you.

Chiropractic goes beyond pain

Our bodies are amazing. Think about that statement. As you do, also think about the fact that you probably took a breath, blinked your eyes, moved a limb, moved your head, focused your eyes, digested food, healed a cut, wiggled a toe, salivated and a million other internal operations. Although you were not readily thinking about all of these processes, they were going on without the need for your input. Your brain, while also supplying you with conscious thought, is simultaneously orchestrating a laundry list of functions to keep you alive and well.
