GRANT COUNTY — Grant County District Court Judge Richard C. Fitterer is running for re-election to Judge Position One.
Fitterer said he wants to complete one more term as judge before his retirement.
He said his favorite part of the position is performing weddings.
Fitterer has been a district court judge for 16 years and enjoys the work. His goals include reducing crime and getting appropriate treatment for those who need it.
Prior to being a judge, Fitterer spent 20 years in a private practice as an attorney working in civil and criminal law cases. He was also a judge pro-tem in Grant County.
He is from Ellensburg and attended Seattle University for undergraduate school. Fitterer graduated from the University of Puget Sound with a law degree.
He is a former president of the District and Municipal Court Judges’ Association. The association is the largest group of trial court officers across the state. He is a member of the district court DUI and drug court team.
He said if the people of Grant County believe he’s done a good job, he hopes they vote for him.
“I enjoy what I’m doing and I enjoy the people in Grant County. I hope to keep doing it,” Fitterer said.
