Jackie Mee, the defending Class A state singles tennis champion, will be looking to win her fourth-straight Western A divisional title starting today at the Glacier Tennis Club at The Summit.

Mee is the top seed and will have a first-round bye when play begins at noon.

Mee went 20-0 last year and did not drop a set until the championship match.

This year the senior standout is 12-0 and has not lost a set.

Mee finished sixth at state her junior season and fourth as a freshman.

She is the lone Libby player to win a state singles title.

Boys singles and doubles, and girls doubles action begins today at 10 a.m. at the Flathead Valley Community College courts.

Play resumes Friday at 8 a.m.

The top four singles players and doubles teams advance to state tournament play May 27-29 in Billings.

The Whitefish boys and Polson girls are defending divisional champions. Whitefish will be shooting for its fifth-straight championship, while the Polson girls are going for their fourth in a row.

The Whitefish boys and Libby girls both finished third at state last year.

The Whitefish boys and Polson’s girls won state titles in 2008.

Libby’s Alex Cislo, who finished fourth in divisional singles last year, is playing doubles this year. His partner is TJ Benson. They are seeded first in the divisional.

Teammate Nate Broden, fourth in divisional doubles a year ago, also has a new partner this year in Lewis Brossman.

Polson’s Shad Giles, third in doubles in 2009, is back this time with Justin Evertz.

Polson’s Jane Probst, a runner-up to Mee last year in divisional singles, returns in singles.

Teammates Kayla Rochin, a senior, and Kendyall Rochin, a junior, are back to defend their doubles divisional crown.

The Rochins have not lost a conference match in two years.

Libby’s Anna Valentine, second in doubles last year, is playing this spring with Audra Poppen.

And Whitefish’s Anne Miller, fourth in doubles last year, has a new partner in Hannah Weaver.
