THOMPSON FALLS - The Mission-Arlee-Charlo softball team ended its season at the Western B-C divisional tournament last weekend.
The Bulldogs beat its first opponent, Drummond, by a score of 8-0. Junior Kyla Olson was on the mound and gave up only four hits while her team produced 12 at the plate. Olson also struck out five.
"They played strong," head coach Susan Weaselhead said.
MAC scored three in the first inning and five in the third to complete the victory.
Senior Katie McDonald went 3-for-4 with a double and RBI while senior Dalena Weaselhead went 3-for-4 with three singles and an RBI. Olson went 1-for-3 with a double and earned two RBIs.
Next up, MAC faced Loyola Sacred Heart, one of the toughest teams in the tournament, Susan Weaselhead said.
In the 7-3 loss, MAC was up 2-1 after the first but Loyola snuck away with runs late in the game.
"It was a tight game," Susan Weaselhead said.
Dalena Weaselhead went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs and senior Bella Dally went 2-for-3.
In a loser out game against Deer Lodge, the Bulldogs were hitting the ball, just not to the right places.
"We were hitting, just right to their defenders," Susan Weaselhead said.
In the 7-3 loss, MAC was up 2-1 after the third, but Deer Lodge scored four in the fourth inning to pull away.
Sophomore Kinley Pope went 3-for-4 and Dally doubled.
As a whole, Susan Weaselhead said the season went well despite not making the state tournament.
"It was a disappointing end to an otherwise great season," she said.
The Bulldogs will say good-bye to four seniors: McDonald, Dally, Dalena Weaselhead and Jasmine Gilleard.
"They played excellent for us," Susan Weaselhead said.
