MOSES LAKE — Moses Lake police detained four people following an assault on West Third Avenue Wednesday afternoon.

The incident involved two rival gangs.

Two Hispanic men dressed in blue and blue bandanas followed two Caucasian men dressed in red with red bandanas on the sidewalk. The two men dressed in blue hollered at the two men dressed in red and gave chase.

The suspects dressed in blue began punching the two men dressed in red. One of the victims attempted to escape by trying to run inside The Hang Out.

The assault dispersed and two subjects fled from the area toward a residential area behind West Third Avenue.

The victims fled on Holly Street and emerged with two more men dressed in red.

Police responded and detained the four subjects for questioning. Prior to detainment, one subject began to leave the area when told to stay by police and was apprehended by police a block away on West Third Avenue.

The subjects advised they did not know who the suspects were.

Two of the subjects were cited for unlawful possession of a weapon: Anthony Aswell, 22, Moses Lake, and a 17-year-old male.

The suspects were heavyset Hispanics with shaved heads and tattoos wearing blue.

One of the suspects dropped a blue cellphone during the assault and it was turned over to police.
